Catalans Dragons hooker Michael McIlorum has said he is looking forward to the challenge of a new club this year.
McIlorum, 30, joined the Dragons just a month before the start of the season, ending his long running association with Wigan Warriors.
“Its something I’ve always wanted to do.” He told BBC Radio Manchester. “I want to do something there, not just relax and rest on my laurels”. He added.
However, it wasn’t a debut to remember for the Ireland international, as his new side were downed 40-12 by last years bottom side Widnes Vikings. A result they need to put right soon as they face early season favourites St Helens on Saturday.
“There’s no better challenge, everyone is tipping Saints so there’s no kicking stones next week, we’ve got to get on with it.”
The game will be McIlorum’s home debut and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports at 5pm on Saturday.
