Hull KR halfback Danny McGuire says he is looking forward to Thursday’s rematch against his old club Leeds Rhinos.
McGuire left the Rhinos at the end of last season after guiding them to a glistening eight Super League titles, the last of which saw him captain the side and win the Harry Sunderland Trophy after a 24-6 win over neighbours Castleford Tigers
The 35 year old has so far endured a tough start to his new life in East Yorkshire after suffering a 28-6 defeat at home to Wakefield last Friday. Despite the result, McGuire says he hasn’t found the change too difficult.
“It’s not been that difficult to be honest,” he said. “The first couple of days were a bit daunting, a bit like your first days at school, but it’s a good club with a really good set of lads.”
Thursday’s game will take place at Elland Road, the home of Leeds United, whilst Headingley finishes its redevelopment works. Something that McGuire says will make it easier for him as a United fan.
