Leigh Centurions bounced back from their opening day defeat to Toronto Wolfpack with a 34-6 win at home to Batley Bulldogs. Two tries for Ben Crooks as well as tries for Nathan Mason, Kevin Larroyer, Matty Dawson and Jamie Acton won the game for the Centurions. Alex Rowe picked up a consolation for the Bulldogs, but they fall to defeat in their first game of the season- last weeks encounter with Rochdale Hornets was called off due to pitch problems.

While the Wolfpack could only draw 8-8 at fellow Championship newcomers Barrow Raiders. Tries from Andrew Dixon and Nick Rawsthorne went unconverted, the Raiders responded through Shane Toal’s converted try and a penalty from Jamie Dallimore earned a share of the spoils in Cumbria.

In what was undoubtedly the game of the weekend, Featherstone Rovers beat French side Toulouse 36-18. Luke Briscoe and Anthony Thackeray got two tries each to go with tries from Mitch Clark, on loan from Castleford Tigers, and John Davies completed the big victory for the Rovers. Two tries from Paul Macron as well as tries from Rhys Curran and Gavin Marguerite were ultimately in vain for Toulouse- who actually led at half time.

Halifax also put 30 points on their opposition as they beat Sheffield Eagles 30-10. Two tries for Daniel Murray, on loan from Salford Red Devils, as well as tries from James Woodburn-Hall, Ed Barber and Dan Fleming, who avoided a ban this week, won the game for Fax.  Tries from Jack Ashworth and Matt James were not enough for an Eagles side that finished runner up in last years Championship Shield.

Lastly, London Broncos won a close encounter in Dewsbury against the Rams. Tries from Eddie Battye and Jarrod Sammut that were successfully converted proved to be enough for the capital side, who have finished 2nd for the last two seasons.

Rochdale Hornets’ wait to play a game goes on as their game against Swinton Lions fell victim to the adverse weather being seen up and down the country.

Which means the Championship table looks like this:

  1. London Broncos 4
  2. Featherstone Rovers 4
  3. Toronto Wolfpack 3
  4. Toulouse 2
  5. Leigh Centurions 2
  6. Halifax 2
  7. Dewsbury Rams 2
  8. Barrow Raiders 1
  9. Rochdale Hornets 0
  10. Sheffield Eagles 0
  11. Batley Bulldogs 0
  12. Swinton Lions 0
