Houston gets two match penalty notice

Widnes Vikings forward Chris Houston has been given a two match penalty notice after being charged with a Grade C Reckless Physical Contact with the Referee.

The second rower barged into the back of referee Phil Bentham in what seemed a purely accidental incident, but he has been charged by the RFL.

Bentham couldn’t continue the game after sustaining knocks to his neck and his hand after the incident.

Because of Houston’s record, he was charged at the lower end of the scale, meaning he was given a two match ban.

He has until tomorrow to respond to the charge.
