It’s been a mixed day for the Huddersfield Giants as they have secured the future of Danny Brough, but the future of Head Coach Rick Stone remains unclear.
Brough, a Scottish international, has signed a 12 month extension to his contract extending his eight year stay at the club.
The 35 year old was at the forefront of the team that won the 2013 League Leaders Shield and he also won the Man of Steel award that year.
As for Stone, he joined the club in 2016 after the club had sacked Paul Anderson. The club finished in the bottom four, although Stone was able to steer them clear of relegation trouble with a victory over Hull KR as they avoided the Million Pound Game.
Whilst confirming the news about Brough, Stone had admitted he had not yet held talks with the club about his own future. Stone did lead the club back into the top eight in 2016 but haven’t started the season well after winning just two of their first five games.
The club has already tied down five first team players but Stone hasn’t secured his future. However, he has hinted that he wants to stay at the club for as long as the board are happy.
