Huddersfield Giants have made Rick Stone the first coaching casualty in the Super League in 2018.
Stone had been at the club since 2016 after succeeding Paul Anderson as head coach.
He led the side away from the drop in the 2016 Middle 8s and then secured a top eight finish a year later.
But a slow start this year, that has seen the club win just two of their first seven games, has seen the club want to make a change in the top.
Assistant Chris Thorman will take temporary charge for the game against Leeds Rhinos on Friday and beyond until the Giants can find a replacement.
