Catalans Dragons piled on the misery for Leeds Rhinos after completing a 28-25 victory at Headingley to move within a point of Huddersfield Giants in 8th place.
The Rhinos went into half time 24-10 in front thanks to tries from Jack Walker, Liam Sutcliffe, Cameron Smith and Luke Briscoe, who came in from Featherstone Rovers in the week with Ryan Hall away with England.
But three unanswered tries from the Dragons came in as Josh Drinkwater, Fouad Yaha and then Lewis Tierney got the Dragons level at 24-24.
Sutcliffe then added a drop goal for Leeds to edge them back in front and would ultimately be the only point the Rhinos scored in the second half.
It wasn’t enough to earn them the win however as Kenny Edwards grabbed his second try of the game which was enough for the Dragons to get back to winning ways after their heartbreaking defeat at Huddersfield last week.
As for Leeds, it is a sixth defeat in a row and an eighth defeat in nine games. The champions are now in serious danger of dropping out of the top eight having finished last year as champions. They have a weeks rest before they travel to Wigan Warriors next Thursday.
