Barrow win bottom of the table clash

Barrow Raiders claimed a confidence boosting victory over bottom of the table Rochdale Hornets.

They fell behind after a Zac Baker try but scored five unanswered tries before the break to set their stall out.

Tries from Wartovo Junior, Alec Susino, Deon Cross, Stargorth Amean and Jake Spedding put the Raiders in control.

Rochdale then responded with a try from Brandon Wood, but they were left scoreless for the rest of the game.

Amean completed his hat trick before half time before second half tries from Tee Ritson and Dan Toal completed a memorable day for the Raiders

Rovers thrash Bulls in West Yorkshire showdown

Featherstone Rovers thrashed West Yorkshire rivals Bradford Bulls 42-4 to give them an upper hand in the race for the playoffs.

It was a close first half, Rovers went ahead with tries from Cameron King and Dane Chisholm. Ethan Ryan responded early in the second half for Bradford, but that was all they could manage.

Two further tries from Chisholm and other tries from Josh Walters, John Davies, Conor Carey and Luke Briscoe sealed an emphatic victory for Rovers.

Batley edge out Halifax

Batley Bulldogs edged out West Yorkshire rivals Halifax in a close encounter.

Both sides were deadlocked in the first half, with Keenan Tomlinson’s effort for Batley being cancelled out by Will Sharp for Halifax.

The second half was where the game was decided as the Bulldogs pulled two tries clear thanks to Tomlinson’s second try and another for Lewis Galbraith.

Halifax responded through on loan Simon Grix, but another try from Adam Gledhill sealed the result for Batley.

Sharp got a second try near the end, but Halifax fall to a damaging defeat.

Swinton claim crucial win against relegation rival

Swinton Lions claimed a crucial victory at home against fellow strugglers Dewsbury Rams.

Dewsbury started really well and earned tries through Andrew Gabriel and Dale Morton. Swinton responded with a try from Matthew Ashton.

Rob Worrincy added a try in the second half, but the Lions then mounted a commendable second half fight back.

Two tries from Gavin Bennion and another from Liam Paisley was enough to turn the game around and earn a crucial win for the Lions.

York edge out Widnes in thriller

York City Knights edged out Widnes Vikings in a game that sent the Cheshire club into the bottom two.

Both sides were locked together at 10-10 at the break. Lloyd Roby and Joe Lyons had twice put Widnes ahead, but Liam Harris and Junior Vaivai levelled for York.

The Knights scored the only try of the second half as Will Oakes managed to cross and earn a brilliant win for an ambitious York side.
