Argyle steps down at Toronto after racism accusation

Toronto Wolfpack chairman and CEO David Argyle has walked away from the club after an accusation of racism.

Swinton Lions player Jose Kenga posted on Twitter about a remark Argyle made to him whilst the Lions were in Toronto earlier in the year.

Argyle allegedly said: “do they allow black people in Swinton?” to Kenga after the game.

Kenga later tweeted that Argyle had apologised to him personally for the comments.

It was later revealed by Kenga that it was only once he went public with his allegation, was it that the RFL opened an investigation.

Elaborating, he said he had reported the incident at the time and followed protocol but, as far as he was concerned, no investigation had been opened.

The RFL are currently investigating the allegation.
