Castleford Tigers host Hull FC hoping to boost playoff hopes

Castleford Tigers will play host to Hull FC on Thursday as both sides hope to boost their playoff chances.

The two sides are fifth and fourth respectively, with just two points separating them.

Castleford come into the game off their dramatic 27-26 Golden Point victory against Huddersfield Giants last Friday.

Meanwhile Hull FC were in a high scoring encounter of their own as they won 35-32 against Salford Red Devils, also last Friday.

The home side make two changes from that game as Jesse Sene-Lefao returns after extended leave, and Junior Moors also returns. They replace Mitch Clark and Chris Clarkson.

As for FC, they have made three changes, some of them enforced as Sika Manu drops out with injury and Josh Griffin serving a one game ban for a Dangerous Throw. Josh Bowden also drops out.

They are replaced by Scott Taylor, Kieran Buchanan and Jack Brown.

The match kicks off at 7.45pm.

Key Battles

Peter Mata’uita vs. Jamie Shaul- Two very versatile full backs who can shape the game in both defence and attack. Shaul is very quick and Mata’uita can also kick as well. It should be a very interesting battle between the two.

Liam Watts vs. Scott Taylor- Two former teammates who are set to have a brilliant battle. Watts and Taylor caused terror together at Hull FC and could well raise trouble for each other.

It all depends on what team shows up. Both teams have had their ups and downs this season, but both can turn on the style when needed.

I will go for the Tigers by one point. Whether that is with or without Golden Point, I am not so sure.
