Richard Marshall named new Saints Assistant Coach

Former Halifax Head Coach Richard Marshall has been appointed as the new St Helens Assistant Coach after the departure of Sean Long.

Long had been at the club since the appointment of Keiron Cunningham as Head Coach in 2015. He previously made 265 appearances for the club as a player, scoring over 2000 points.

The Saints legend has taken up a coaching position at Rugby Union side Harlequins.

Marshall joins after being sacked by Halifax after four years in charge at the club, with more than a 50 per cent win rate.

The appointment comes six weeks before Saints and Halifax go head to head in the Challenge Cup semi finals in Bolton.
