Swinton Lions became only the second team to win at Toulouse this season as they claimed a 20-18 win to go five points clear of the bottom two.
It was the home side who started the game better and scored after just seven minutes as Stan Robin got in and scored. William Barthau converted to put the French side six points ahead.
But the Lions, buoyed by their performance against Toronto last week, got themselves back into the game midway through the first half as Rhodri Lloyd managed to get in. It went unconverted, but they were back to within two points.
The home side then got two more tries before the break through Tony Maurel and Anthony Marion. Crucially, neither effort was converted, meaning they were 14-4 up at the break.
The Lions came roaring out in the second half and stunned their hosts with two tries in five minutes. Two efforts from Liam Paisley did the damage, one of them was converted by Jack Hansen, putting the visitors level.
But with 15 minutes to go, Toulouse retook the lead as Paul Marcon went over. However it went unconverted, meaning they only led by four points going into the final stages.
The Lions then struck with five minutes to go as Paisley completed his hat trick. Hansen then scored the conversion to put the Lions ahead for the first time in the contest.
It was a brilliant win for the visitors, who went five points clear of the bottom two with that win. They welcome York City Kinights next Sunday.
As for Toulouse, that could be fatal for their hopes of finishing top, as they went eight points behind the Wolfpack. They travel to Toronto next Saturday.
