Bradford Bulls held off a second half fightback from Halifax to win 24-20 at Odsal Stadium.
It was the Bulls who started the quickest and they got the first try as Ethan Ryan managed to get through and score. Joe Keyes converted and then added a penalty to make it eight points in 12 minutes.
Halfway through the first half, Halifax hit back as Shaun Robinson managed to get over. Steve Tyrer scored the conversion to bring Fax back to within two.
Bradford then hit back in spectacular fashion to put them in control of the match. Elliot Minichella and Jy Hitchcox scored in a seven minute spell, both tries were converted by Keyes to get the Bulls up to 20 points.
The last word of the half did go to Halifax however as Tyrer added a penalty to send the visitors in trailing by 12 points.
Just like the first half, the second saw Bradford score early as Hitchcox grabbed his second. It went unconverted however, leaving the Bulls ahead by 16 points
From there, Fax mounted a fightback and grabbed two tries in three minutes just after the hour through Brandon Moore and Quentin Laulu-Togagae and they made it a grandstand finish.
But ultimately it was not to be for Halifax and they lose further ground in the race for the playoffs. They host Featherstone Rovers next Sunday.
As for the Bulls, it was a much needed win for them after some damaging results against playoff rivals. They welcome Widnes Vikings next Sunday.
