Salford City Roosters have announced that they have withdrawn from the Kingstone Press NCL after 25 years.
The Roosters were bottom of Division Three, and recently failed to field a team for their game at Heworth last week.
In a statement on social media, they explained they would finish the season playing friendlies against teams from the North West Mens League, with a view to joining ahead of the 2020 season.
They recently won a grant from the Rugby League World Cup fund, and say this has given them the opportunity to rebuild and grow at all levels.
They aim to be back in the NCL within five years.
