Dewsbury Rams put in a brilliant second half performance to see of Rochdale Hornets, who are now one more defeat away from relegation.
It was a good start for the Rams as they grabbed a try through Frazer Morris and though it went unconverted, it was the perfect start after just seven minutes.
But back came the bottom club, as just ten minutes later they grabbed a try through Dailey Williams. Dan Abram converted to edge the Hornets in front.
That lead lasted for 15 minutes, as Dewsbury got back in front thanks to a try from Adam Ryder. Once again, it went unconverted but the Rams were back in front by two points.
They couldn’t take that lead into half time however as Williams grabbed his second try right before the hooter. Abram converted once more to put the Hornets four points in front going into the break.
However, it was all Dewsbury from there as two tries from Michael Knowles, and others from Tom Garratt and Rob Worrincy in the opening 20 minutes, sealed victory for the Rams.
That victory has given the Rams a big buffer as they lie five points clear of Barrow Raiders in the final relegation spot. They welcome West Yorkshire rivals Featherstone Rovers next Sunday.
As for Rochdale, that defeat leaves them with no more room for error. One more defeat will cost them their place in the Championship. They host Batley Bulldogs next Sunday.
