Widnes Vikings have announced the departure of Dan Norman who has joined London Broncos.

Norman was one of many academy products to come through in 2019, but has left in order to play full time. Widnes announced they will be going part time in 2020.

Norman said, “I am really thankful for the opportunity I have been given. I cannot wait to get started down in the capital under Danny Ward and his staff and am excited to pull on a London jersey for the first time.”

“I am also looking forward to meeting the all the boys and becoming part of something special while ripping in to pre-season with them all.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Widnes Vikings for all they have done for me over the years and for giving me the chance to play professional rugby but now its onto my new challenge and making the most of my time at London Broncos.”

Meanwhile, there is good news for the Vikings, as Joe Lyons has signed a new deal for the 2020 season.

Lyons said: “It’s great to have this sorted out and sign a new deal.

“I’m looking forward to getting my head down, being back in with the lads and focusing on having a good year.

“This club is the only place that I’ve wanted to play my rugby, so as soon as the offer was on the table, I wanted to sign.

“I was happy with my year last season, and I put in some good performances, and it was a massive learning curve for me. I played a lot with Danny (Craven) last year and we built up a good relationship, so with him and Jack (Owens) re-signed, that’s a good start for us.

“The fans were great last year. They always got behind me and the boys wherever we played, and kept us going whenever things got hard. I’m looking forward to more of the same from them in 2020.

“t’s like a new start for us and it’s exciting for the players as well as the fans. I just can’t wait to get going again.
