Salford Red Devils claimed their place in the Preliminary Final after a resounding 22-0 win over Castleford Tigers at the AJ Bell Stadium.
It was Salford who scored first as Tyrone McCarthy did well to ground the ball under pressure from a kick. Krisnan Inu converted to make it a six point advantage after 11 minutes.
It didn’t take Salford long to add to that lead as Jake Bobby went in in the corner. It was a tight call from the video referee, but he gave the try. Inu converted and then added a penalty just before half time to make it a 14 point advantage.
After a tight second half, Salford sealed the game after Jackson Hastings spotted a gap and slid through to score. Inu was again on target and then added a penalty right on full time to make it a 22 point advantage.
That result means Salford face a trip to either St Helens or Wigan Warriors to get their place in the Grand Final at Old Trafford.
As for the Tigers, it was a disappointing way to end the season, which took away from their remarkable late rise of form which saw them get into the top five. They will now go away and rebuild for 2020
