Pennine ARL Preview: Season gets underway

Division One

Mirfield Stags vs. East Leeds- The newly reformed Stags, managed by former referee Richard Silverwood, face an East Leeds side hoping to put the disappointment of their NCL relegation behind them.

Upton vs. Drighlington- The Wakefield winter league side come up against a Drighlington side, whose NCL season is still going, as they are in the playoffs for promotion to Division Two. Their winter side will be hoping to keep that momentum going.

Division Two

Thornhill Trojans vs. Seacroft Sharks (1.30pm)- The Trojans will hoping to move forward after their relegation from the NCL Premier Division, the Sharks will be hoping to keep their momentum going after a couple of good results against Yorkshire Mens League sides in pre season.

Cutsyke Raiders vs. Clayton- Two sides that have had differing summer seasons in the Yorkshire Mens League. The Raiders first team finished near the bottom in the Premier Division, and their A side made the top four, but were disqualified from the final having played an ineligible player. Clayton will be hoping for better after a diffcult season in Division Four, they finished bottom.

King Cross Park vs. Shaw Cross Sharks- Halifax based King Cross will be hoping to build on a promising season in the Yorkshire Mens League after a fourth placed finish in Division One. The Sharks will be hoping to put the disappointment of back to back relegations in the NCL behind them.

Eastmoor Dragons vs. South Yorkshire Eagles- The Dragons will be hoping to put an underwhelming NCL season behind them, after finishing second bottom in Division Three, although their second team did finish third in Division Five in the Yorkshire Mens League. The newly formed Eagles, headed by Keighley Cougars player Jack Arnold, will be hoping to assert their place in the league.

Division Three

Allerton Bywater vs. Hollinwood- Bywater will be hoping to put a difficult summer season behind them, after only picking up two wins in Division One of the Yorkshire Mens League. The Chadderton based Hollinwood will be hoping to build their already respectable reputation in the rugby league community.

Sherburn Bears vs. Beeston Broncos- The Leeds based winter side will hope to take it to a Broncos side hoping to recover from a summer season, where they finished bottom of Division Five in the Yorkshire Mens League, without winning a single game.

Woodhouse Warriors vs. Crofton Sports- The sports club in Leeds welcome a Crofton side who played an exceptional season in the Yorkshire Mens League, as they finished third in Division Four.

Stainland Stags vs. Kinsley Hotel Raiders- The Stags come into the season after a stagnant summer season, after they pulled out of Division Two in the Yorkshire Mens League after five games. They lost four games and drew one. The Raiders hoping to come in rested having not played over the summer.

Crigglestone All Blacks vs. South Yorkshire Eagles A- The All Blacks come into the season off the back of a table topping summer after achieving the feat in Division Four. The newly formed Eagles hoping to make their mark.
