Featherstone Rovers are in the Championship Grand Final after a stunning 36-12 win over Toulouse in France.
It was the Rovers who scored first as John Davies managed to get over from short range. Dane Chisholm converted to make it a six point advantage after six minutes.
The French side then produced an instant response as William Barthau managed to find his way to the line. Mark Kheirallah converted to make it a level game with just 10 minutes on the clock.
Once again, there was a quick response, this time from Featherstone as seven minutes later, Davies got over for his second. Chisholm converted as the Rovers retook their six point advantage.
The Rovers then struck a potentially crucial blow on the half hour as they went two tries in front as Ashton Golding managed to get through and score. Chisholm was perfect once again with the conversion to make it an 18-6 at half time.
The first try of the second half was crucial and it was the visitors who got it as James Harrison managed to continue his fine post season form. Chisholm was off target with the conversion but it was still a healthy lead.
Toulouse needed a response and quickly. They got it just four minutes later as the ball was worked well out wide and Paul Marcon got over. Kheirallah converted to hand a much needed lifeline for the hosts.
But then, in chasing the game, Toulouse handed the game to their visitors as Chisholm added a try to his collection off an intercept, Jack Johnson also scored off an intercept and Jack Render sealed the game for the jubilant Rovers.
That result meant a third straight away win for the Rovers this post season, and if they can get one more at the Toronto Wolfpack, they will be in the Super League in 2020.
As for Toulouse, it was a disappointing way to end the season, but it is another season of frustration for them, as they fell disappointingly short in the Middle 8s last season.
They will go away and attempt to rebuild to try to go for promotion once more in 2020.
