Blackbrook book place at North West Mens League Finals Day

Blackbrook have set up a Division One playoff final against Wigan St Cuthberts after a 30-10 win over Halton Simms Cross at Boardmans Lane.

The Brook didn’t have it all their own way, as the visitors from Halton went 10-0 up early on.

But after that, they didn’t look back as two tries from Bobby Williams and other efforts from Jordan McManus, Jack Wilson and Lewis Gartland confirmed victory for the second place side.

The match could have been very different, had McManus not scored right on the stroke of half time. It certainly gave Brook a lift going into the second half.

As a result, the St Helens side will be renewing rivalries with their Wigan counterparts in Warrington on Saturday for the chance to be crowned champions of Division One in the North West Mens League.

As for Halton, they are left to reflect on what could have been. It was a very good opening half for them, but they will be disappointed with the final result. They will go again in 2020 hoping to go one better.
