Scotland name train on squad

Scotland have confirmed their squad for the upcoming 2021 World Cup Qualifiers.

Ex Huddersfield Giants forward Dale Ferguson has been named the captain of the squad, with extra Super League experience with Lachlan Coote (St Helens), Adam Walker (Salford Red Devils), Kane Linett (Hull KR), Kieran Buchanan (Hull FC), Danny Addy (Hull KR), Will Oakes (Hull KR), Callum McLelland (Leeds Rhinos), Ben Hellewell (London Broncos), Luke Douglas (St Helens) and Alex Walker (Wakefield Trinity) are all included.

There are also several Championship players included with Brett Carter (Barrow Raiders), David Scott (Batley Bulldogs), Ben Kavanagh (Halifax), Liam Hood (Leigh Centurions), Izaac Farrell (Rochdale Hornets), Oscar Thomas (Swinton Lions), Ryan Brierley (Toronto Wolfpack), James Bell, (Toulouse), Hamish Bentley (Toulouse) and Kane Bentley (Toulouse) all get their call ups.

Meanwhile, there are nine players from League One with Brandon Wilkinson and Frankie Mariano of Doncaster, Niall Sidney and Sam Luckley of Newcastle Thunder, Joe McClean and Sam Herron of West Wales Raiders, Davey Dixon and Kieran Moran of Keighley Cougars as well as Brett Phillips of Whitehaven.

2019 North East Mens League champions Edinburgh Eagles have four players included with Craig Robertson, Lewis Clarke, Mikey Mair and Matt Hogg all selected for their countries. They join Scott Plumridge (Glasgow RL), Murray Mitchell (Strathmore Silverbacks) and Niall Hall (Strathmore Silverbacks) in joining from the Scottish Rugby League ranks.

There is even space for two NCL players as Millom pair Charlie Emslie and Connor Terrill both join up for their maiden caps.

Moving onto Australia, South Sydney Rabbitohs winger Campbell Graham will get his first appearance for the Scots. He joins Nick Gloe (South Lakes United), Dan Turland (Murwillumbah Mustangs) and Lachlan Stein (Newtown Jets) in coming over from Australia.

Oliver Wilkes, who retired at the end of the season, will end his career playing for his country.
