Keighley Cougars have announced the signing of centre Jake Webster from the Bradford Bulls.
Reports suggest he was released from the club before the transfer happened.
That now leaves the Bulls with just 13 contracted players for 2020, and they are still in special measures, so they cannot sign anyone.
Webster brings a wealth of experience to Cougar Park, having played in the Super League for Castleford Tigers and Hull KR. He made Challenge Cup and Super League Grand Finals during his time at The Jungle.
The 35 year old has also played in the NRL with Melbourne Storm and Gold Coast Titans.
Keighley chairman Mick O’Neill said: “It’s great, he’s our marquee signing. He is a powerhouse and this signing could pull us altogether.
“We are going to call him Captain Cougar. He is very fit and a hell of a player. It’s a big signing for us.
“We’ve had a good year this year. We need success in the league next year now. I look at Jake and he is the man.
“He is near the end of his career. We have plans for him.”
