The RFL have confirmed they have held talks with Sky about their coverage about the Championship for next season.
Sky held the rights to cover Toronto Wolfpack games on the channel, but the RFL have sought assurances about broadcasts moving forward now the Wolfpack are in the Super League.
The broadcaster does hold rights for the Championship, but the only non Wolfpack games they showed were in the playoffs.
Figures did show fans were interested in more Championship coverage and RFL CEO Ralph Rimmer has said they want to move towards weekly coverage.
“We’re absolutely working towards that,” Rimmer said when asked about the prospect of weekly coverage.
“We do lose a bit with Toronto leaving. But we’ll do what we can to get it shown because I think what’s been proven is that it is a fantastic competition.
“It’s tentative. We’ve given them some top-class matches this year. I’ve yet to speak to them since the Final but you’d have to imagine they were impressed.”
