Austin replaces Hughes in England squad

Warrington Wolves halfback Blake Austin has replaced teammate Jack Hughes in the England squad for the Nines World Cup.

Hughes was initially named in the squad, but has pulled out because of a hamstring injury.

Despite the injury, Hughes is hoping to be fit enough to make the Great Britain squad for the Southern Hemisphere tour at the end of the month.

It will be Austin’s first cap for England if he plays after changing his allegiance from Australia earlier this year.

The halfback has himself recovered from the injury which saw him limp out of the Wire’s playoff defeat against Castleford Tigers.
