Langworthy Reds centre Callum Jones has been banned for life from the game after his infamous punch during his sides 60-2 defeat against Chorley Panthers in the North West Mens League.
The incident went viral after footage from the game was uploaded onto social media. He was charged with the initial punch and striking an opponent who was off-guard.
After a disciplinary hearing, the North West Mens League have handed a ‘sine-dine’ punishment, meaning he is banned for life from the game.
Both the player and the club are aware of the outcome, and have 14 days to appeal.
If an appeal is unsuccessful, then Jones would have to wait two years to have another appeal heard.
