England win first match in Papua New Guinea

England Women won their first match of their tour in Papua New Guinea 24-10 against The Orchids.

St Helens forward Emily Rudge, who was captaining the side, set the stall by scoring a hat trick, two in the first half, and one coming in the second half.

It soon got even better for the English as Leeds Rhinos forward Danielle Anderson managed to get herself over and score.

The Orchids were next to score, as Shirley Joe managed to get herself over from dummy half.

Rudge then made history as she became the first England Women’s player to score four tries in a match, when she was played in by Anderson.

There was time for more as well as Wigan Warriors centre Rachel Thompson managed to get over after a good pass from Charlotte Booth.

The last word would to go the Orchids though as Ua Rave got over for a consolation.

It was a great performance for the England side, and will be looking to make it a whitewash when they play the Orchids again in Port Moresby next Saturday.
