Great Britain forward John Bateman is free to take on Papua New Guinea after being cleared of a careless high tackle.

Bateman was placed on report by referee Gerard Sutton for the tackle during the Lions’ 23-8 defeat against New Zealand in Christchurch.

He pleaded guilty to the offence, but the panel say it was a Grade One offence, which has led to 50 demerit points, meaning he could risk a suspension if he commits another indiscretion.

The Lions take on the Kumuls in Port Moresby, kick off is at 7.30am UK time.
