Sheffield Eagles have confirmed the signing of forward Frankie Mariano from Doncaster ahead of the 2020 season.
The 32-year-old has a wealth of experience under his belt with appearances in the Super League, the Championship, and League One to his name.
“It is a step up from where I was at and I wasn’t expecting it to be fair,” he said on the Eagles’ club website.
“I didn’t have the best season at Donny due to injury, I put the feelers out there for a move and I had a chat with Tubbs (Head Coach Mark Aston).
“I am looking forward to getting started and meeting up with a few old faces as I’ve played with Jamesy (Matt James), Thacks (Anthony Thackeray) and Scott (Wheeldon).
“It should be good to get back into training and ready for the new season.”
On the capture of Mariano, Aston added: “We are highly delighted to secure Frankie’s signature,”
“We were missing another forward so it’s great to get this deal across the line.
“He has had some rotten luck with injuries over the past two seasons but he is fresh and raring to go.
“He’s hungry to fight for a place in the team and get back to the great form he has shown in the past.
“He is the type of character we need in this team and I look forward to working with him.”
