Phillips to stay at Haven for 2020

Whitehaven forward Brett Phillips has signed a new contract to stay at the club for the 2020 season.

Phillips. a Scottish international, signed for the Cumbrians ahead of this season after two years away from the game.

He scored four tries in 17 appearances last season as Whitehaven secured their promotion to the Championship.

The 31-year-old told the club website: “I’m excited for another year. I enjoyed last season and hopefully we can kick in again next year and enjoy our rugby. I’m looking forward to getting back into the routine and playing rugby again.”

Head coach Gary Charlton who brought Phillips back to the sport last season said “ Brett is a great signing for us. He’s a good player that has experience playing in the Championship and at the highest level with Scotland. Really pleased to see him sign for another season with us.”
