Hull KR hooker Matt Parcell will be available to face Hull FC on the second week of the Super League season.
Parcell is serving a three match ban for dangerous contact, one of which was already served, and it was thought that Parcell would have to sit out the first two Super League games of the season.
However, following the news overnight that Bradford Bulls hooker George Flanagan was told he could use up some of his ban during club friendlies, the RFL have now confirmed this is the same for Parcell.
That means the Austrlian will only miss their season opener against Wakefield Trinity on January 31.
Meanwhile, Flanagan has been told he can put two of his eight game ban aside for friendlies.
He has already served three games for an ‘attack to the testicles’ on Hakim Miloudi during their 25-20 defeat against the Wolfpack at Odsal.
But while it is still likely he will sit out the first month of the season, it will still be quicker than expected.
