Newcastle Thunder have confirmed the signing of forward Adam Lawton from Salford Red Devils for the 2020 season.
Lawton signed for the Red Devils in 2019 from North West Mens League side West Bank Bears. He went on to make four appearances and spent most of the season out on loan, namely at championship sides Swinton Lions and Rochdale Hornets.
He came through the academy at Widnes Vikings before taking a year in Australia with Redcliffe Dolphins. When he returned, he signed for the Bears.
Speaking on his move to the North East, Lawton told the club website: “I spoke to Denis and Finny (Head Coach Simon Finnigan) during the year and I’m happy with the move now that it has all happened. I’ve worked with Denis before and I like him as a coach, so it is good to link back up with him and it’s a new fresh challenge here.”
Finnigan added: “I’m pleased with the addition off Ada to our squad, he brings Super League experience and will add to the strike we already have on our edges.”
