Rochdale Hornets have confirmed the signing of Sam Freeman from Widnes Vikings for the 2020 season.
Freeman burst onto the scene at Widnes, when he scored on his debut against York City Knights. He was also the club’s U19s Player of the Year in 2018.
The back told the club website: “I’m made up to have signed for Rochdale.
“I felt really welcome as soon as I stepped into the club and was impressed with their plans and ambition to drive the club forward.
“I’ve had a few sessions and have been impressed with the set up and the lads at the club and I’m really looking forward to pushing on this year and trying to get the club back into the Championship.”
Head coach Matt Calland added: “Sam is young, fit and athletic and he fits the bill for the sort of player we are looking for.
“He has pace to burn and can play fullback or wing.
“Welcome to the club, Sam.”
