England forward John Bateman went back to his roots on Saturday when he was a water carrier during Bradford Dudley Hill’s friendly against West Bowling.

The two teams were playing for the inaugural Steve Laws Trophy, who passed away in 2017 after a short battle with prostate cancer.

In addition, £700 was raised for the Kirkwood Hospice, which is based in Huddersfield.

NCL Division Two champions West Bowling won the game 24-20.
