Wakefield Trinity ended their long run without a win after beating Huddersfield Giants 18-14 at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
Wakefield struck first, as Matty Ashurst managed to get over. Ryan Hampshire kicked the conversion to put Trinity into a six point lead.
The Giants hit back soon after, as Aidan Sezer finished off a good move. Lee Gaskell hit the conversion to level the game.
Huddersfield then took the lead just before the break, as Jordan Turner went over on the left-hand side. Gaskell was off-target with the conversion.
The first try of the second half was crucial, and it was the Giants who got it, as Sam Wood finished well in the corner. Gaskell was off-target for the second straight time.
This time, Wakefield hit straight back, as Tom Johnstone got the ball out wide, and came inside to score. Hampshire converted to leave just two points in the contest.
Trinity then hit the front with five minutes to go, as a big hit on Wood caused the ball to come out, allowing Johnstone to go over for his second. Hampshire converted.
Trinity return to action on Sunday when they face Hull KR at Belle Vue. They follow that up with a match against Leeds Rhinos on Thursday.
As for Huddersfield, they face Castleford Tigers at the John Smith’s Stadium on Friday.
