Salford Red Devils came from behind to beat a youthful St Helens 12-10 at the AJ Bell Stadium.
Saints struck first after just three minutes, as Josh Eaves went through for his first senior try. Lewis Dodd added the conversion for a six-point advantage.
Dodd then added two penalties to give Saints a 10-point lead after 20 minutes.
Salford got a crucial try right on half-time, as Pauli Pauli managed to get himself over. Krisnan Inu added the conversion to bring them back to within four points.
The match was on a knife edge for the whole of the second half, with neither side able to take the initiative.
However, with just four minutes to go, Salford broke the hearts of the young Saints, as Inu scored in the corner. He converted the try to give Salford the win.
It was a first defeat since lockdown for Saints. They take on Wigan Warriors at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday.
As for Salford, it was their first Super League win since beating Huddersfield Giants near the start of the month. They face Warrington Wolves on Friday.
