Hull FC took the bragging rights of the city of Hull after a 31-16 victory over Hull KR at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
FC took the lead after eight minutes as Josh Bowden expolited a gap to get over. Marc Sneyd converted for a six-point lead.
That lead only lasted seven minutes, as Dean Hadley showed good footwork to get over for the Robins. Will Dagger converted to level the game.
The Black and Whites took the lead for the second time, just three minutes later, as Bureta Faraimo took in a bouncing ball to go over in the corner. Sneyd converted to give Hull a six-point lead again.
Just before the half-hour, the Robins levelled again as Kane Linnett managed to barge over. Dagger converted.
But once again, the lead did not last long, as Ratu Naulago went over in the corner. Sneyd was off-target with the conversion attempt.
Just before half-time, the Black and Whites struck again for a comfortable lead, as Jake Connor’s jinking run allowed Ligi Sao to go over under the posts. Sneyd converted for a 10-point lead.
Hull struck a crucial blow just two minutes into the second half as Faraimo barged hid way over the line. Sneyd was again off-target with the conversion.
The Black and Whites struck another blow after an hour, as Naulago finished off a good move in the corner. Sneyd was again off-target with the conversion.
However, Sneyd made up for that miss by adding a drop goal soon after to take Hull past 30 points.
Rovers got their second half try with 10 minutes to go, as Ben Crooks slid in in the corner. Dagger missed the conversion.
Hull KR face Warrington Wolves next Thursday, while Hull FC have a week off before returning to action against St Helens around 8th November.
