Sinfield: We gave ourselves too much to do

Leeds Rhinos Director of Rugby Kevin Sinfield said the Rhinos left themselves with too much to do in their defeat against Catalans Dragons.

Leeds had a slow start, and found themselves 18-0 down in the first half, and Sinfield believes this is the main reason they lost.

The Rhinos were also without Head Coach Richard Agar and Assistant Jamie Jones-Buchanan, who were stood down by Track and Trace. That meant Sean Long and James Webster took temporary charge.

However, Sinfield wasn’t keen to make excuses for the club,

He said: “I thought we gave ourselves too much to do. You don’t win big games early, but you can lose them.

“Being 18 points behind made too hard. Losing Mikolaj (Oldezki) and Ava (Seumanufagai) made it too hard.

“We made errors that invited Catalans in. But I am proud of the effort.

“We threw some things at them that caused problems, but then we made errors.”
