Hastings hopeful Lam will stay

Wigan Warriors halfback Jackson Hastings says he is hopeful Head Coach Adrian Lam signs a new deal.

Hastings himself recently signed a new deal to keep him at the club until the end of 2021.

Lam confirmed today he has started negotiations over a new deal.

The pair know each other back when Hastings was playing U20s for Sydney Roosters alongside Lam’s son Lachlan.

He also credits Lam for his successes this season.

He said: “Lam has a great knowledge of the club and the game, he makes sure we are in touch with respecting the clubs traditions.

“I think it is important for players that are coming from overseas to learn about the club they are joining. It is what I did at Salford and it is important dive in head first.

“Now, we need to write our own path. With the new badge too, it is the perfect time for us to create a legacy.

“Lam has made sure to let me know about who has played before me in my position. He always reaches out, asks me if I am OK.

“We have the same agent as well, I have known him for about 10 years.”
