Salford Red Devils academy graduate Connor Aspey has joined up with the first team squad on a two-month trial.

The 18-year-old made his Super League debut against Hull KR in October, after representing the reserves earlier in the season.

The trial period, which has been financed by the Supporters’ Trust, will give Red Devils head coach Richard Marshall the opportunity to assess him.

Reacting to the news, Aspey said: “Being part of the first team environment for so much of last year and making my Super League debut was a great experience.

“I’m really grateful for this opportunity to prove myself and want to thank the Supporters’ Trust for their support of me.

“Now I can’t wait to get stuck into training and show what I’m capable of.”

Director of Rugby and Operations Ian Blease added: “We’re very thankful to the Supporters’ Trust, for their continued support of our player pathways.

“After developing through those structures, Connor experienced the intensity of Super League for the first time last season and has now been given the opportunity to prove himself to our new head coach.
