Harry Aldous will be back for a sixth season at Newcastle Thunder in 2021, as the clubย secure the services of one of its most consistent performers for its step up to the Championship.
Aldous has been a mainstay of the clubs second row and loose forward positions for the past five seasons having joined from Hull KRโs U19 set up back in December 2015, with his all-around skill set making him a hugely valuable asset.
Now up to 93 appearances for Thunder, he is set to pass the magic century mark in 2021 for the club where he has played all but three of his senior career matches.
He joinsย Connor Bailey, Bob Beswick, Joe Brown, Rhys Clarke, Alex Clegg, Reece Dean, Alex Donaghy, Kieran Gill, Ollie Gowing, Evan Hodgson, Kieran Hudson, Jack Johnson, Liam McAvoy, Colton Roche, Evan Simons, Cianย Tyrer, Calum Turner, Nathan Wilde, Sam Wilde, Mikey Wood, Matty Wright & Lewis Young in the squad for the 2021 season.
Speaking about his new deal, Aldous said: โ I’m happy to have signed a new deal at Thunder. This will be my sixth year and since I first came, the clubโs goal had always been to get into the Championship, so Iโm delighted for all the staff, players and especially the fans that we will now be playing in the champ next year.ย
โItโs a massive club with big goals & really doing the right things off the pitch as-well which is good to see.
โObviously everyone was disappointed with how the the 2020 season finished after such a promising start. We feel we had the squad to go all the way regardless of what happened.
โWeโve retained majority of them, weโve got some solid signings coming in and I know everyone is looking forward to getting back out there and playing in the Championship.โ
Director of rugby Denis Betts added: โHarry is a great clubman and a very reliable player. He is a hard worker, is very versatile and is great to have in the squad.
โHe never lets anyone down, never disappoints and hits hard. Heโs a great retention for us for next season in the Betfred Championship.โ
