Halifax Panthers have announced the appointment of Scott Grix as Player-Assistant coach at the club.

The experienced full back joins Rikki Sheriffe as joint Assistant coach at the Panthers and will combine playing and coaching roles in 2021 as the Panthers bounce back from the pandemic and a near full season away.

Grix who has previously coached at Huddersfield Giants and under his guidance took their Academy side to 6th in the table and played a major role in the in the development of the clubs younger outside backs aswell as coaching the first team in the same role.

Head Coach Simon Grix said: “Scott will be player assistant this year. His experience is invaluable to us and, like Rikki, will be a good devils advocate to ensure I am on my toes and prepared.

“His first priority is to be game ready but throughout pre season he will have a bigger part to play on the coaching side as we aim to provide a balanced generic and position specific skills program.”
