Newcastle Thunder have completed the signings of Jay and Ted Chapelhow for the 2021 season.
Both were due to play for Ottawa Aces in 2021, but then the Canadian side delayed their entry into League One.
Both made their names at Widnes Vikings, making their debuts while the club was still in the Super League, and continued to play for them in the Championship.
Reacting to the news, Jay said: โIโm buzzing to join Thunder and canโt wait to get going. Itโs a club with real ambition and that is the main reason Iโve decide to come.
โThere has been interest before, but now feels like itโs the right fit for the right time and for getting myself back on track.
โIโve played some of my best games under Denis and he has built a nice squad. We look like we can be competitive and if we can compete, then we should set ourselves no boundaries as to our aims.โ
Ted added: โIโm looking forward to getting back playing after so long and meeting all the lads, the team is coming along great and I canโt wait to get up to Newcastle and play my rugby there with the lads,ย
โIโm hoping to be a consistent performer in the middle and aim to get Newcastle competing in championship and to be on the journey the club are on in their development. I am always looking to improve my game and be the best I can.
โThe vision the club have and the journey it wants to go on is right up my street and I am looking forward to being on that journey.โ
