Grix gives Halifax injury update

Halifax Panthers Head Coach Simon Grix has offered an update on the progress from injuries suffered by Sion Jones and Ben Kavanagh.

Jones suffered a serious knee injury, and hoped to be back in 2020 before the season was voided. However, Grix admitted he had suffered a small setback.

Grix said: “Sion has done really well with his knee and thrown himself into everything after working really hard out of sight throughout lockdown.

“With such an injury there are extensive niggles and Sion is experiencing some at the minute, nothing too serious but we will have to slow him down a bit for his and our sake.”

Meanwhile, Kavanagh picked up a hip injury during a pre-season friendly against Hull FC before the start of the 2020 season.

Grix was more optimistic on Kavanagh’s recovery.

He added: “Ben is in good shape and through his rehab probably a touch quicker than expected. He has been joining in the more controlled skill elements of training without a problem and beginning to take part in what is  appropriate for him.”
