Ireland international forward Pat Moran has signed for French Elite League side Avignon.

Moran was due to play for Ottawa Aces in 2021 after leaving Widnes Vikings. However, the Canadian side chose to defer their entry into League 1 until 2022 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He also has Super League experience with Warrington Wolves.

Reacting to the news, he said: “I always wanted to play rugby in another country and Christophe (Jullien) gave me the opportunity to come to France. I’ve heard a lot about this championship.

“Personally, I want to enjoy playing rugby again, I haven’t played rugby for over a year because of Covid. Collectively, I hope we will win a lot of games.”
