Hull KR forward Albert Vete has said he hopes to impress Tonga Head Coach Kristian Woolf ahead of the World Cup later this year.
Vete has represented Tonga back in 2015. His last game was a World Cup Qualifier against Samoa.
Recently, he has had injury problems, and hopes to put them behind him and impress for Hull KR. He will also hope to impress Woolf, who is also Head Coach at St Helens.
On playing for Tonga, he said: “It is such a privilege to represent your heritage. Representing Tonga meant a lot to me. I will hope to put my best foot forward.
“It helps that Kristian Woolf is over here with St Helens, and I will 100-per-cent be hoping to get back in the Tonga squad.”
As well as Woolf, Vete will reunite with some his Tongan teammates in the Super League, including his best friend early on, Konrad Hurrell.
He added: “I am looking forward to playing Leeds. Konrad Hurrell is one of my best mates, he looks like he has settled well in Leeds.
“Tui Lolohea at Salford as well, we go way back. Konny is the one I am looking forward to facing the most, apart from the Hull derby and St Helens.”
