Oldham bounced back from back-to-back defeats in pre-season to book their place in the Challenge Cup Second Round, after a 20-6 victory over Barrow Raiders at Bower Fold.
It took almost half-an-hour for the first try to come, and it was the Championship side who took the lead, as Lewis Charnock slid over. Dan Abram scored the conversion to make it a six-point advantage.
Around eight minutes later, Oldham doubled their advantage as Danny Langtree got on the end of a kick to score. Abram scored the conversion.
The final word of the half would go to Barrow, and in outstanding fashion. Ryan Shaw picked up the ball 60m out, and skipped past the defence to score. Shaw then scored the conversion to half the deficit.
But just four minutes into the second half, Oldham struck again. Tommy Brierley went over in the corner this time. Abram scored the conversion to give the hosts their 12 point lead back.
Oldham then warpped up the win, as Abram scored a penalty after the Raiders were punished for holding down and not standing square.
Oldham will now travel to the winners of the tie between Swinton Lions and Newcastle Thunder next week.
As for Barrow, they have an extra month now to prepare for the start of League 1 in May.
