Salford Red Devils forward Lee Mossop has said he hopes to put himself back into recognition for International honours ahead of the World Cup later this year.
The Red Devils captain was part of the 2013 World Cup squad, coming off the bench to play against Australia in a 28-20 defeat in Cardiff.
It was a time Mossop remembers as the best of his career, before an injury-hit spell in the NRL brought him back down to earth.
He said he hopes to reach that high again in his career.
Mossop said: “The last couple of seasons, I have been more vocal about it. In 2013, I played in the World Cup, it was the best time in my career. I had just won the double with Wigan, signed an NRL contract and played in the World Cup.
“I then had a swift fall from grace. I had a couple of nasty shoulder injuries and went from the top to the bottom and struggled for form for a few years.
“I think I am playing better now than what I was when I was picked. I am getting towards the back end of my career, and I hope to get back into that international set up.”
