Hull FC marked their first game under new Head Coach Brett Hodgson with a 22-10 win over Huddersfield Giants at Headingley.

Hull took the lead after 17 minutes, as Jake Connor threw a dummy and went through to score. Marc Sneyd converted to make it a six-point advantage.

Just five minutes later, they doubled that advantage as Josh Griffin took in a short pass and went over. Sneyd added the conversion.

The next points came four minutes into the second half, as Sneyd added a penalty after Huddersfield were caught offside.

Five minutes later, things got worse for Huddersfield, as Kenny Edwards was sent to the sin bin, after nudging Josh Reynolds off the ball.

Just past the hour mark, Reynolds got his try, after getting his hand to Sneyd’s clever kick. Sneyd added the conversion to open up a 20-point lead.

Sneyd would soon make it a 22-point lead as he slotted another penalty from right in front of the sticks.

Huddersfield, who were also under the guidance of new head coach Ian Watson; then got themselves on the score sheet, as Ricky Leutele took in an offload from Edwards and got over. Oliver Russell hit the post with the conversion attempt.

There was time for the Giants to add a second try, as James Gavet was put through a gap to score. Russell converted to put Huddersfield into double figures.

Both sides return to action next week. Hull face Salford Red Devils and Huddersfield face Catalans Dragons. Both games are in St Helens next Saturday.
