Warrington Wolves forward Ben Currie has praised Hull FC Head Coach Brett Hodgson, saying he was always destined to go into coaching.

The pair played in the same Warrington team back in 2012 and 2013 before Hodgson retired, and Currie praised him for the help he gave to players like him and Stefan Ratchford.

Currie’s Warrington face Hull at the KCOM Stadium on Sunday.

He said: “I played with Brett around eight or nine years ago now when I was a young pup. Obviously, he was one of the senior boys then.

“You could clearly see he was going to go into the coaching role. He was really helpful for me and players like Stef Ratchford who were coming through in his position.”

“He was a great help to me.”
