Catalans Dragons recorded a 42-6 win over Salford Red Devils at the Stade Gilbert Brutus to extend their winning start to the season.

The Dragons opened the scoring inside 13 minutes, as Ben Garcia managed to get through. James Maloney converted to open up a six-point advantage.

Catalans managed back-to-back tries, as just three minutes later, Samisoni Langi got over to stretch the hosts advantage. Maloney was again on target with the conversion attempt to double Catalans’ lead.

Maloney was able to extend that advantage in the 26th minute with a penalty, which got Catalans lead up to 14 points.

Just two minutes later, Catalans went further ahead as Josh Drinkwater supported a break from Mike McMeeken to go over. Maloney added the conversion to make it a 20-point lead at the break.

Just two minutes into the second half, Fouad Yaha extended Catalans lead after scoring in the corner. Maloney converted to stretch their lead to 26 points.

Seven minutes later, Catalans got through again, this time it was Tom Davies who went over after a clever offload from McMeeken. Maloney was again on target with the conversion.

Salford managed to hit back before the hour. Harvey Livett went over for his first try for Salford, after powering over. Morgan Escare scored the conversion.

The Red Devils’ joy was short-lived, as Yaha went over for his second try just three minutes later. Maloney maintained his perfect record with the boot.

Yaha would complete his hat-trick with just over 10 minutes to go, as he took in a pass from Sam Tomkins to go over. Maloney missed the conversion-his first miss of the night.

Both sides return to league action next week. Catalans welcome Warrington Wolves next Saturday, while Salford welcome Leigh Centurions on Friday.
